Infrared - How does infrared work?
Infrared (IR) cameras work by detecting the infrared energy emitted by objects, which is essentially heat. Unlike visible light, which can be reflected, absorbed or transmitted by materials, infrared energy can penetrate certain materials such as smoke, fog, and even some types of clothing. It's important to remember that infrared won't work through even though it's transparent.
